Add an Email Account in cPanel

March 29, 2006

by Heather at OMSH

Adding an email account in cPanel is quick and easy. The following steps will walk you through the process.

cpanel email

This will bring you to the ‘Mail Manager Menu’. Click on the 3rd text link, ‘Manage/Add/Remove Accounts’.

This will bring you to the ‘Mail Accounts Menu’ page that will display your Main Account email, which uses the username auto-assigned by cPanel when your web host set up your account.

To add a new email account, click on the ‘Add Account’ text link at the bottom of the page.

This will take you to the ‘Add Mail Account’ page.

Once you have filled in the text boxes, click the ‘Create’ button to create your email account.

The next screen will be ‘Mail Account Maintenance’. On this screen you will be told whether or not the account was created and then below, you will be given the information to properly configure your email client.

For instance, I filled in the text boxes above to create the email account bubba@verycommerce.com with the password bubba1 and a quota of 10megs. The ‘Mail Account Maintenance’ will say:

Account Created

The e-mail account bubba@verycommerce.com with the login bubba+verycommerce.com and password bubba1 with a quota of 10 megs was successfully created.

Your email account has now been created for your web hosting account. You can set up an unlimited number of email accounts in this same manner.

Click the text link ‘Go Back’ to go to the ‘Mail Account Maintenance’ page to view your new email account displayed there. If you would like to return to your cPanel home page, click the text link for ‘HOME’ in the top right portion of your screen, next to the ‘LOGOUT’ text link.
